In the spirit of pointing out the ones that are hindering the tide of progress, we would like to award the person(s) who either contributed the least to society or helped us go backwards.

Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan

There are so many Ass Hats to choose from nowadays, but this week, I chose Paul Ryan. There are many reasons to choose Speaker Ryan. From his unrealistic budget proposals, that squeeze middle and lower income families, to his blatant and outright attempts to squash debate and silence the Left in Congress.

And then, there’s this too:

Paul Ryan Family Time Cartoon

This week, though, I chose him for a different reason. His absolute refusal to denounce Donald Trump. Let there be no doubt about it, Trump will be a disaster for this country, if elected. We spent thirty years, and are STILL dealing with the aftereffects of Reaganomics. And Reagan, presumably, knew what he was doing, or had people who did! Trump. On the other hand, has filed for business bankruptcy four times, and threatened to default on the nation’s debt. Not to mention the flat racist and misogynist things that come out of his mouth.

So why won’t Ryan denounce this walking train wreck? Well, either:

  1. He agrees with him.

  1. He is so against Hillary winning he would sell his soul to Satan himself to keep her out of the White House.

  1. He is so against Republicans losing that he would overlook things that would turn other men’s stomachs to stand behind the Republican Nominee, no matter whom it is.

I think, more than likely, it’s number 3. Why else would, in the same press conference would he “disavow” what Trump said about the Hispanic judge (in the Trump University case), and then turn around and say he stands behind the Nominee because “there are not many policy differences between us.”

First he says this:

“The last thing I would do is tell anybody to do something that’s contrary to their conscience. Of course I wouldn’t do that,” he told NBC News’ Chuck Todd in an upcoming episode of “Meet the Press” airing Sunday.

Then this:

“Look, believe me, Chuck. I get that this is a very strange situation. He’s a very unique nominee,” Ryan added. “But I feel as a responsibility institutionally as the Speaker of the House that I should not be leading some chasm in the middle of our party. Because you know what I know that’ll do? That’ll definitely knock us out of the White House.”

Paul Ryan is our Ass Hat of the week because he is willing to put partisan politics ahead of principles and doing the right thing. Because he is so craving a Republican in the White House, so that he can stop having to compromise and pass these ridiculous budgets he proposes, and finally screw working people and the poor. For not caring that this country will become a joke to the world if he can just get his way for the next 4 years.

If you would like to drop him a note to ask him put our country first, visit his contact page.
